How can customers manage their subscriptions?

If you enable customer accounts in Shopify, your customers will be able to view and manage their own subscriptions in the customer portal by logging into their accounts in your store.

To enable customer accounts in Shopify:

From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
In the Customer accounts section, choose Accounts are optional or Accounts are required (keep in mind that requiring customers to create accounts might decrease sales conversions).
Click Save to confirm your customer account settings.

If you set customer accounts to optional or required, then you can send customers direct invitations to encourage them to activate an account and to ensure your subscribers will be able to access their subscriptions if necessary.

How to set up theme app extensions in RGO Subscribe! Subscriptions

A great user experience is important to the success of our merchants. Therefore, the RGO Subscribe! Subscriptions app uses theme app extensions to work perfectly with Online Store 2.0 themes.

Online Store 2.0 themes

If you have an Online Store 2.0 compatible theme like Dawn, follow the steps below to set up theme app extensions and configure the subscription widget to your liking.

1. Switch on the app in the theme

First, you need to switch on the app in the theme. You can do this in Shopify admin or straight in the app.

In the app If you’re a new user, you’ll see the banner as in the screenshot below on the Subscription rule creation page. To activate app embeds, click the Go to theme button in the banner, make sure that the app is switched on, and click Save.

If everything is done correctly, you’ll see the ‘Your theme is ready’ notification in the app.

In Shopify admin Alternatively, you can do this in Shopify admin:

Go to Sales channels > Online Stores > Themes
Click the Customize button near your theme name
Click App embeds
Click the RGO Subscribe! Subscriptions toggle switch to activate it
Click Save

2. Add app blocks to the theme

What are transaction fees and when are they charged?

Transaction fees are charged for all orders that have at least one subscription item. This includes mixed cart checkouts that have subscription items and one-time products in a single order. Starting from the second order, transaction fees for a mixed cart will only be charged from the cost of a subscription product, not the total cost.

There are NO transaction fees for Shopify orders that have only one-time purchases.

Also, transaction fees are never charged for test orders (Shopify Payments Test mode, Bogus).

Transaction fees are calculated as a percentage of your total order, not including shipping costs.

How much should I expect to pay for transaction fees?

The cost of the transaction fee varies depending on the pricing plan you choose — from 0.5% on the PRO plan to 2% on the Basic plan.

We do NOT charge transaction fees during 7-day free trial in any pricing plan as well as test orders.

If you change your pricing plan, transaction fees for the billing period will be calculated by the formula:

Transaction fee = Transaction fee previous (Orders before plan change) + Transaction fee current (Orders after plan change).

Understanding prepaid subscriptions

Prepaid subscriptions allow customers to pay for multiple orders upfront, while still ensuring that they receive their product on a regular schedule. This allows merchants to increase their retention rate and gives subscribers the opportunity to buy products at a more attractive price.

While a monthly subscription may cost $10, opting for a 3-month prepaid subscription might cost only $25, and a 6-month prepaid subscription may cost $50 only.

|| In RGO Subscribe! Subscriptions, the prepaid subscription feature is available for auto-charging subscriptions only. Prepaid subscriptions are renewed automatically at the end of a billing cycle.

Setting up prepaid subscriptions

When creating an auto-charging subscription rule, select Prepaid under the Subscription type

Next, set up the Deliver every field - this is how often you want to deliver products to your customers

Configure the Charge every field - this is the amount of prepaid deliveries for which you charge customers in one billing cycle
